The Podcast Distribution Map Most New Shows Don’t Understand
Most beginner podcasts think publishing equals distribution. It doesn’t.
One of the most common things I hear from new podcasters sounds something like this:
“My show is everywhere. It’s on Apple, Spotify, and all the apps.”
Technically, that’s true.
But in reality, most beginner podcasts are only using one quarter of the distribution system that actually exists. And a surprising amount of podcasters I know put a show on Spotify and don’t distribute elsewhere because they’re woefully misinformed about where the majority of listeners are (hint: it’s not Spotify).
They publish to an RSS feed, the show appears in the apps, and then… nothing happens.
Downloads stall. Discovery feels random. Growth becomes frustrating.
Not because the content is bad, but because the distribution strategy is incomplete.
